De Britse popgroep The Human League wordt in 1977 opgericht als een ‘avantgarde synthpopgroep’. De band ontwikkelt al snel daarna een eigen, zeer gestileerde en hitgevoelige stijl. The League bestaat uit louter mannen, totdat in 1980 enkele bandleden de groep verlaten en leadzanger Philip Oakey doorgaat met twee zangeressen: Joanne Catherall en Susan Anne Gayle.

Scorpions are a German rockband formed in 1965. Since the band’s inception, their musical style has ranged from hardrock to heavy metal. The band’s only constant member is guitarist Rudolf Schenker, although Klaus Meine has been lead singer for all of their studio albums. They are known for their 1980s rock anthem “Rock You Like a Hurricane” and many singles, such as “No One Like You”, “Send Me an Angel”, “Still Loving You”, and “Wind of Change”. The band was ranked number 46 on VH1’s Greatest Artists of Hard Rock program. “Rock You Like a Hurricane” is also number 18 on VH1’s list of the 100 Greatest Hard Rock Songs.

Scooter are a German techno hard dance group founded in Hamburg, who have sold over 30 million records and earned over 80 gold and platinum awards. Scooter are considered the most successful German single-record act with 23 top ten hits. Although most of the group’s early recordings are in the rave & techno, Scooter have experimented with other dance music subgenres such as hardstyle and jumpstyle, and occasionally hiphop, and hard rock, and dubstep.

Right Said Fred is een Britse popgroep, die in de begin jaren '90 met 'I'm Too Sexy' en 'Don't Talk Just Kiss' twee grote hits scoort. Right Said Fred dankt zijn naam aan de gelijknamige (Britse) hitsingle van Bernard Cribbins uit 1962. De groep bestaat uit de (kale/kaalgeschoren) broers Richard en Fred Fairbrass en Rob Manzoli. De broers Fairbrasse werken in een sportschool en laten zich in 1991 inspireren door de spiernekken daar. Ze nemen het nummer 'I'm Too Sexy' op professionele manier op.

Rednex had an international novelty hit with their cover version of the song “Cotton Eye Joe” in 1994. They were very popular in Germany, where the band holds the record of most total weeks (25) at number one on the German singles chart over the past 30 years scoring such hits as “Old Pop in an Oak”, “The Spirit of the Hawk” and “Wish You Were Here”.

Los Del Río are a Spanish Pop and dance duo who formed in 1992. They are best known for their smash-hit dance single “Macarena”, originally released in early 1994. The song went on to become a worldwide success.

East 17 are an English pop boy band group currently consisting of original members John Hendy and Terry Coldwell and newest addition to the line-up Robbie Craig. The original line-up also featured Brian Harvey and Tony Mortimer.

De Duitse DJ Marko Albrecht alias Mark'Oh is een legende uit de Duitse ravescene. Hij is bekend uit de tijd van de rave en de happy hardcore midden jarig negentig. Samen met artiesten als Marusha en Scooter zorgde hij voor een nieuwe sound, de Duitse happy rave. Een snel tempo, versnelde zangstemmetjes en opzwepende synths lieten de Europese dansvloeren vollopen.

René Baumann alias DJ Bobo was al op zeer jonge leeftijd geïnteresseerd in muziek. In 1987 haalde hij de top 10 van de German Disco Kings, met zijn acrobatische dansstijl. In 1985 begon hij ook met draaien. Hij werkte in discotheek Don Paco in Wohlen, hierdoor kreeg hij een goed oor voor de dansvloer. Dit kwam later natuurlijk van pas bij het produceren van platen. De eerste Dj Bobo-plaat kwam uit in 1989, “I love you”. Deze en de twee opvolgers werden vooral een succes in Zwitserland, zijn thuisbasis.

Cappella was begin jaren ’90 ongekend populair en stond met vele hits in de internationale hitlijsten.
